FIFA has officially enrolled the Football Association in its Women’s National Team Preparation Programme—an initiative aimed at elevating performance standards through science-driven training and holistic player development.

The programme was secured through the GFA’s Women’s Football Development Desk under its Technical Directorate, with a focus on enhancing the physical preparation of the senior women’s national team, the Black Queens.

Leading the initiative on Ghana’s side is Physical Preparation Lead Mr. Enoch Jordan Daitey, who serves as the Black Queens’ athletic coach.

Designed to strengthen national team structures, the FIFA programme adopts an evidence-based approach to physical conditioning, ensuring female players are optimally prepared for the demands of elite international competitions.

At its core, the initiative is guided by three key objectives: preparing the Black Queens for major international tournaments, delivering tailored physical performance strategies specific to the team’s needs and establishing best-practice models for holistic player development.

The programme follows a structured implementation framework—Educate, Prepare and Complete—which commenced in October 2025 and is scheduled to conclude in November 2026. It integrates multiple learning and development components, including e-learning modules that apply a “female lens” to performance tracking, monitoring, and recovery; interactive online workshops focused on optimizing health and performance; and an intensive onsite workshop set to take place in Frankfurt, Germany, from June 29 to July 3, 2026, where theory will be translated into practical application.

A key pillar of the programme is personalised mentorship. Mr. Daitey is being guided by performance expert Julian Haigh, whose role involves providing strategic direction on planning, identifying areas for improvement, refining methodologies, and aligning preparation with the evolving demands of the modern game.

The programme’s first phase—Level One—has already been successfully completed. It featured introductory e-learning sessions and mentorship engagements held on November 17 and 24, 2025. These sessions provided participants with a comprehensive overview of the programme and facilitated initial interactions with the mentoring team.

Level Two is currently underway, having begun with online sessions and set to culminate in the Frankfurt onsite workshop in July 2026. This phase is expected to deepen practical application and further enhance the technical capacity of Ghana’s coaching staff.

Beyond knowledge transfer, the programme also provides critical logistical support, including access to modern training equipment, recovery tools and injury prevention resources, key elements in sustaining peak athletic performance.
