Zone One A leaders Tamale City FC suffered only their second defeat of the season, falling 2-1 away to a resilient Yapei FC at Jinapor Park in Buipe on Sunday.

The first half ended goalless, but Abedi Karim sprang to life after the break, netting a quickfire brace in the 60th and 69th minutes to put the hosts firmly in control.

Tamale City FC pulled one back late through an 83rd-minute own goal from Alhassan Sule, but it proved only a consolation. Despite the defeat, Tamale City FC remain top of the Zone One A table with 54 points and have secured a playoff spot.

Former Premier League side Real Tamale United were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at home by Bolga All Stars FC at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Saturday, extending their winless run to two matches. The visitors took the lead in the 25th minute through Dennis Nyaaba, before Derrick Asiedu restored parity for Real Tamale United in the 65th minute with a well-taken penalty.

Real Tamale United now have 47 points from 26 matches, trailing city rivals Tamale City FC by seven points with just two games remaining.

In Zone One B, leaders Debibi United FC returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion, thrashing relegation-threatened Berekum Arsenal 4-0 at Debibi Presby Park on Sunday.

Kwadwo Antwi set the tone with a first-half brace in the 14th and 23rd minutes to give his side a comfortable lead at the break. After the restart, Adjei Collins added two late goals in the 85th and 88th minutes to seal a dominant victory. Debibi United FC have now amassed 59 points from 26 games and hold a commanding 16-point lead at the top of the table.
