The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) returned to winning ways after three consecutive defeats in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, defeating the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 23 runs in Match No. 18 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 11.

Batting first, CSK produced a dominant performance, posting an imposing total of 212/2 in their 20 overs. Ayush Mhatre played a solid knock of 59 off 36 balls, including three fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 163.89. The standout performer, however, was Sanju Samson, who delivered a sensational unbeaten 115 off 56 deliveries. His innings, featuring 15 boundaries and four sixes at a strike rate of 205.36, anchored CSK’s innings and put the opposition under immense pressure.

In response, DC fought hard but fell short, managing 189 runs in their chase. Tristan Stubbs was the top scorer for DC with a well-made 60 off 38 balls, which included four fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 157.89.

CSK’s bowlers then stepped up to seal the win. Jamie Overton was the pick of the bowlers with an impressive spell of 4/18 in four overs, while Anshul Kamboj chipped in with 3/35 in his four overs.

With this victory, CSK moved to ninth place on the points table with two points, while DC remain in fourth position with four points despite the loss.

Here are the most important stats from CSK vs DC, Match 18:

  • Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have bowled out the opposition for the 26th time in IPL history, ranking third overall
  • Delhi Capitals (DC) have been bowled out 31 times, the most by any team in IPL
  • This marks CSK’s first win at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk) after six consecutive losses
  • CSK have now won 8 of their last 9 matches against DC at Chepauk, with the only loss coming in the 2025 season
  • Jamie Overton’s 4/18 is the second-best four-wicket haul for CSK vs DC

  • Samson becomes the second batter to score a century for three IPL franchises (DD, RR, CSK)
  • This is only the second century by a CSK batter vs DC, after Murali Vijay’s 113 (58) at the same venue in 2012
  • Samson also completed 400 sixes in T20s, becoming the fourth Indian to achieve the milestone
