The Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured a six-wicket victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match No. 17 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on April 11 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.

Batting first, SRH posted a formidable total of 219/6 in their 20 overs, powered by an impressive 74 from Abhishek Sharma. For PBKS, Arshdeep Singh and Shashank Singh picked up two wickets each, helping to restrict the opposition despite the high score.

In response, PBKS produced a clinical batting display to chase down the target with seven balls to spare. The foundation of the chase was laid by Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, and skipper Shreyas Iyer, all of whom registered half-centuries. Their composed yet aggressive approach ensured PBKS stayed ahead in the chase.

For SRH, Shivang Kumar was the standout performer with the ball, claiming three wickets with his spin.

PBKS bowlers make a terrific comeback

After a blazing start from SRH in the powerplay, the PBKS bowlers staged an impressive comeback in the latter half of the innings. Despite conceding heavy runs early on, PBKS showed great composure and execution in the death overs. Their bowlers delivered disciplined spells, effectively restricting SRH’s scoring rate when it mattered the most. In the final four overs, PBKS conceded just 37 runs, preventing SRH from pushing their total beyond the 250-run mark.

PBKS top order didn’t let SRH settle

The PBKS top order came out with clear intent and never allowed the SRH bowlers to settle during the chase. Openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh provided a blistering start, stitching together a 99-run partnership off just 38 balls for the first wicket. Arya led the charge with a sensational 57 off 20 deliveries, smashing five fours and five sixes at an incredible strike rate of 285. Prabhsimran complemented him perfectly, scoring a quickfire 51 off 25 balls, which included four boundaries and four sixes at a strike rate of 204. After the explosive start, skipper Shreyas Iyer ensured there were no hiccups in the chase. He played a composed and match-winning knock of 69* off 33 balls, guiding PBKS home securing their third win of the tournament.
