Gujarat Titans pulled off a dramatic one-run victory over Delhi Capitals in a thrilling last-ball encounter during their IPL 2026 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 8.

Opting to bat first, Gujarat Titans delivered a commanding performance with the bat, posting a formidable total of 210/4 in their 20 overs. The innings was powered by impressive half-centuries from Jos Buttler, Washington Sundar, and captain Shubman Gill. The trio combined effectively, maintaining a strong scoring rate throughout and keeping the Delhi bowlers under relentless pressure. Among the bowlers, Mukesh Kumar stood out by claiming two important wickets.

Chasing a challenging target, Delhi Capitals responded with determination. KL Rahul led the charge with a superb 92, anchoring the innings and keeping his side in contention. He received solid support from Pathum Nissanka and David Miller, who contributed valuable runs to push the game deep into the final over. Despite their efforts, Delhi fell just short, finishing at 209/8.

The turning point came through the disciplined bowling effort from Gujarat in the closing stages. Rashid Khan played a crucial role with the ball, picking up three wickets and breaking key partnerships at vital moments. Prasidh Krishna also made a significant impact, grabbing two wickets and holding his nerve in the death overs to ensure Gujarat stayed ahead.

With this narrow yet crucial win, Gujarat Titans moved up to sixth place in the standings, while Delhi Capitals remained in fourth.

Here are the most important stats from DC vs GT, Match 14:

  • This is most narrowest win for GT by runs.
  • This marked the fourth instance of a one-run defeat for Delhi Capitals, highlighting their unfortunate history in close finishes.
  • The last time Delhi registered a 50-plus opening stand at home was back in 2024, when Abishek Porel and Jake Fraser-McGurk put on 60 against Rajasthan Royals.
  • This match was the first instance of three Gujarat Titans batters scoring 50-plus in a single IPL innings, featuring Jos Buttler, Shubman Gill, and Washington Sundar.
  • Overall, Gujarat Titans have now crossed the 200-run mark 18 times in IPL history: 13 times in Ahmedabad, 3 times in Delhi, Once each in Jaipur and Mullanpur
  • This was GT’s second 200-plus total while batting first away from home, the previous being 209/4 against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur last year.
  • Shubman Gill faced just seven deliveries in the powerplay, the fewest by a GT opener while remaining unbeaten at that stage of an innings.
  • The 104-run partnership between Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar stands as the third-highest 100-plus stand for the third wicket or lower for Gujarat Titans.
  • Jos Buttler smashed five sixes inside the powerplay, which is the second-most by a non-opener in that phase of an IPL innings, only behind Suresh Raina’s six sixes against PBKS at Wankhede in the 2014 Qualifier 2.
