Amid all the Indian Premier League 2026 blitz, the former legendary batter Yuvraj Singh had high praise for teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, highlighting the youngster’s immense potential and fearless approach in modern-day T20 cricket.

Sooryavanshi, who has already grabbed headlines at a very young age, continoes to impress with his aggressive batting and rapid rise through the ranks. The left-handed batter first caught widespread attention when Rajasthan Royals secured his services for INR 1.1 crore ahead of IPL 2025, when he was just 13.

Speaking about the youngster’s talent, Yuvraj was particularly impressed with his bat speed and overall skill set, while comparing Sooryavanshi’s batting style to his.

“Look at the current players coming up in T20 cricket. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is doing very well. Vaibhav has amazing bat speed. His bat speed is better than mine. I have seen very few people with such bat speed,” he said on a podcast with Aaj Tak.

Yuvraj also emphasised that the young batter is far from being a one-dimensional player, pointing out his ability to score freely across the ground.

“I feel at a young age, he has got a lot of skills. Obviously, the more matches he plays, with failure and success, he will become a better batter,” he added.

Sooryavanshi made an immediate impact on debut by smashing a six off his very first ball and followed it up with a stunning 35-ball century in only his second appearance, becoming the fastest Indian to score an IPL hundred and the youngest centurion in the tournament’s history.

With the impact of the Indian Premier League continuing to shape young cricketers, Yuvraj believes Sooryavanshi is well on track for bigger opportunities.

“IPL has changed the dimension of Indian cricket a lot. These boys play directly in the IPL in front of big crowds, and they take the same fearlessness into international cricket. About Vaibhav, the majority of the people know he will play for India. There is no vacant spot in India’s T20I team at the moment. There is a lot of competition. I feel that sooner or later, he is going to play. When he plays is a question. When the selectors feel he is ready, they will give him a chance,” he concluded.

The Bihar batter opened his IPL 2026 campaign with a bang, scoring a 15-ball fifty against Chennai Super Kings in Rajasthan Royals’ season opener in Guwahati.
