Matchweek 24 action in Zone Three of the Access Bank Division One League saw table-toppers Port City FC further solidify their grip on the summit, while their closest rivals, Semper Fi FC, dropped crucial points. Meanwhile, former Premier League side Great Olympics continued their impressive resurgence.

Port City FC maintains top spot with hard-fought win
League leaders Port City FC extended their advantage at the top of the Zone Three table with a hard-fought 1-0 away victory over Na God FC at the Tuba Astro Turf on Sunday. This narrow win marks their fifth consecutive victory, their longest winning run of the season, showcasing their unwavering consistency. Forward Korblah Junior Kedzie was the hero, reacting quickest to a rebound inside the penalty area to score the only goal of the match in the 57th minute, as Port City FC continues its strong charge.

Semper Fi FC misses chance to close gap
Title hopefuls Semper Fi FC missed a golden opportunity to reduce the deficit on Port City FC, as they were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by former Premier League side Inter Allies at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday. Inter Allies initially took the lead in the 23rd minute through an unfortunate own goal. However, Semper Fi FC demonstrated resilience, finding a late equalizer in the 88th minute to salvage a point. The result keeps Semper Fi FC in second place on 43 points, but they now trail Port City FC by a significant 12 points in the Zone Three standings.

Great Olympics continues impressive run
Former Premier League powerhouse Great Olympics continued their remarkable form, securing a third consecutive clean-sheet victory with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Accra Lions at the McDan Sports Complex in Teshie on Sunday. Substitute Islam Mohammed Kpare emerged as the decisive player, scoring the winning goal in stoppage time to seal all three points for the ‘Dade Boys’. This victory marks Great Olympics’ eighth of the season and lifts them into the top half of the table with 31 points from 24 matches.
