The second game of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) will see the Mumbai Indians (MI) taking on the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, March 29.

MI are deemed to be one of the favourites to lift their sixth title come the end of the season. They possess an Indian core, which is the envy of other franchises in the league, including captain Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Tilak Varma, and Suryakumar Yadav. These superstars, along with a quality overseas contingent, make MI one of the most feared sides in the league this season.

KKR, on the other hand, have a new-look side coming into the 2026 season. They have bolstered the squad with international stars like Finn Allen, Cameron Green, and Blessing Muzarabani, aiming for a much better season than last time around, when they finished at a lowly eighth position.

The Indian players within the KKR squad remain the backbone of their success. The likes of Rinku Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, and captain Ajinkya Rahane need to have excellent seasons to bring the three-time champions back to their brilliant best.

With the prominence of T20 cricket in recent years and IPL being in its 19th season, there are always a host of players close to achieving personal milestones in the shortest format of the game.

Here are the important upcoming milestones for players of both teams:

MI Players’ Upcoming Milestones

  • Hardik Pandya: Needs 2 sixes for 150 sixes in the IPL
  • Mitchell Santner: Needs 2 catches for 100 catches in T20s
  • Will Jacks: Needs 37 runs for 500 IPL runs
  • Will Jacks: Needs 7 wickets for 100 wickets in T20s
  • Jasprit Bumrah: Needs 5 wickets for 350 wickets in T20s
  • Trent Boult: Needs 7 wickets for 150 IPL wickets

KKR Players’ Upcoming Milestones

  • Ajinkya Rahane: Needs 4 sixes for 200 sixes in T20s
  • Sunil Narine: Needs 8 wickets for 200 wickets in IPL
  • Varun Chakravarthy: Needs 3 wickets for 200 wickets in T20
