Premier League: Hearts of Oak face tough Kpando test against Heart of Lions as Wonders, Samartex face-off in Friday Showdowns

Heart of Lions return to the Kpando Stadium brimming with renewed confidence after ending a three-game winless streak with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Swedru All Blacks. That result marked their ninth win of the season and lifted them to 10th place with 33 points.

The Kpando-based side have quietly built one of the league’s most formidable home records, registering eight wins, one draw, and three defeats, while conceding just five goals at home all season. Having won three of their last four home matches, Lions will be eager to secure back-to-back victories for the first time since November 2025.

Standing in their way are Accra Hearts of Oak, who continue to struggle for consistency. The Phobians were held to a goalless draw by Basake Holy Stars in their last outing, a match in which they were reduced to ten men.

Hearts of Oak have managed just one win in their last five matches (D3, L1), slipping to fourth place with 41 points. Despite their inconsistency, they boast the best defensive record in the league (9 goals conceded) and are the strongest away side, with six wins on the road this season.

However, recent history at Kpando offers little encouragement for the Phobians. They have failed to score in their last two visits, recording one draw and one defeat, making this a stern test against a confident Lions side.

Eleven Wonders vs FC Samartex 1996

Struggling Eleven Wonders FC face FC Samartex 1996 in a clash defined by poor form and attacking struggles at the Swedru Sports Stadium on Friday March 20, 2026.

Eleven Wonders’ season has gone from bad to worse. Their 2–0 defeat to Aduana FC last time out extended their losing streak to eight matches, during which they have failed to score. With just 14 goals scored and 44 conceded, they remain rooted to the bottom with only nine points from 25 matches.

Their home form has been equally dismal, with just one win in 13 matches, making Friday’s encounter a must-win if they are to keep their survival hopes alive.

Samartex, however, arrive in similarly frustrating form. The Timber Giants are winless in their last five league matches (D3, L2) and have failed to score during that run, most recently drawing 0–0 with Dreams FC.

Currently seventh with 37 points, Samartex remain defensively solid, having conceded just 12 goals, the second-best record in the league. But their struggles in front of goal—combined with a modest away record of one win in 12 matches—highlight their inconsistency.

With both sides desperate to rediscover their scoring touch, Friday’s encounter could hinge on which team finds the cutting edge first in what promises to be a tense and decisive battle.
