Army Ladies edge out Halifax Queens in tight contest

At the Teshie Mats Park, Army Ladies secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Halifax Queens in Matchday 16 of the Women’s Premier League. The decisive moment arrived in the 13th minute when a delivery into the box was unfortunately turned into her own net by Halifax defender Deborah Maccarty. That early setback proved to be the only goal of the game. Halifax pushed hard for an equalizer in the second half but were unable to find a way through a resolute Army Ladies defense. Despite their best efforts, the Queens could not beat the goalkeeper, and the solitary first-half own goal was enough to separate the sides at the final whistle.

Samartex Ladies secure hard-fought victory over Jonina Ladies

Samartex Ladies secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Jonina Ladies in their Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League encounter, delivering a determined performance in front of their home supporters. The hosts started the game with intensity and were rewarded early in the first half. In the 14th minute, Alex Ibinabo broke the deadlock for Samartex Ladies with a well-taken goal, giving the home side the lead. The early strike boosted Samartex’s confidence as they controlled large spells of the first half, while Jonina Ladies tried to find their rhythm. Jonina Ladies returned from the break with renewed determination and managed to restore parity in the 61st minute. Joyce Atimbila found the back of the net with the equalizer, bringing the visitors back into the contest and setting up a tense final phase of the game.

As the match approached its closing minutes, Samartex Ladies pushed forward in search of the winner. Their persistence paid off in the 87th minute when they were awarded a penalty. Catherine Arthur stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to restore Samartex’s lead and ultimately seal the victory. The crucial late goal ensured that Samartex Ladies walked away with all three points after a spirited battle, while Jonina Ladies were left to reflect on a game where they fought hard but narrowly missed out.

Oak Ladies complete double over reigning champions Police Ladies

Debutants Oaks Ladies defeated reigning champions Police Ladies 2–1 at the Alajo Astro Turf, completing a memorable double over the champions. Police Ladies opened the scoring early when Phility Asuako converted a well-taken free kick in the 9th minute. However, the visitors responded quickly as Gifty Addai Boakye equalized in the 20th minute. Both sides pushed hard for the winner in the second half, but it was Evelyn Terkunor who found the decisive goal in the 65th minute, giving Oaks Ladies a deserved lead. Despite late pressure from Police Ladies, the debutants held firm defensively to secure all three points in a hard-fought victory away from home.
