The maiden edition of the U15 Girls Colts League has officially kicked off in the Central Regional capital, Cape Coast, marking an important step in youth football development for girls in the region.

The Girls Colts League is a new initiative introduced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to strengthen the grassroots structure of women’s football across the country. The competition forms part of the association’s broader Women’s Football Strategy to identify and nurture young female talents across all ten regions of Ghana.

The Central Region launched its competition on March 6, 2026, with eight clubs participating in the historic inaugural edition. The participating teams are Windy Professionals Ladies FC, Kesewa Ladies, Mfantseman Royal Ladies, Ali Royals, Socrates Maidens, Mahuja Ladies, Kiismart Royal Ladies and Sea Lions FC.

To ensure a successful start to the competition, the Central Regional Football Association provided all participating clubs with jerseys and footballs. The support forms part of efforts to create an enabling environment for young female footballers to develop their skills and compete in an organised structure.

The introduction of the U15 Girls Colts League represents another milestone in the ongoing efforts by the Association to expand opportunities for young girls in football while strengthening the foundation of the women’s game across the country.
