The Football Association has secured the services of National Under-17 head coach Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum on a two-year contract, reinforcing its commitment to long-term stability and renewed ambition for the Black Starlets.

Dr. Ogum, who assumed office from Frimpong Manso, has already made an immediate impact by guiding the team to qualification for the 2026 CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for April.

His permanent appointment is designed to provide the time, space and institutional backing required to build a formidable squad capable of restoring Ghana’s stature at youth level on the continent.

Dr. Ogum has expressed his gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and outlined his vision for the team.

“I am grateful to the Ghana Football Association for the trust and stability this contract provides. Our focus is clear,  to build a technically sound, tactically disciplined and mentally strong team that can compete at the highest level in Africa. We are not just preparing for a tournament, we are building a foundation for the future of Ghana football.” Prosper Nartey Ogum told GFA Communications

In addition to his national team role, Dr. Ogum serves as the GFA’s Head of Education, a dual responsibility that reflects his strong grounding in player development, technical instruction and structured growth pathways.

He famously led Asante Kotoko SC to the Ghana Premier League title in 2022 and previously guided WAFA to a remarkable second-place league finish. His experience also includes managerial duties at Ebusua Dwarfs and a stint as assistant coach of the Black Galaxies, further strengthening his national team credentials.

With preparations for the upcoming CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations already underway, he has intensified efforts to assemble a competitive and well-drilled squad ahead of the Black Starlets’ return to the continental stage.

The GFA has reaffirmed its full commitment to providing the necessary technical and logistical support to ensure the team’s success, signaling a new era of stability and strategic focus at the youth level.
