President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has commended the Northern Region for its remarkable contribution to the growth and success of women’s football in Ghana, while also calling for continued unity and support as the nation prepares for a demanding international calendar.

The GFA President made these remarks during a courtesy call on the revered Gulkpe Naa Palace in Tamale, as part of his official tour of the Northern Region.

The visit formed a key component of the Football Association’s broader engagement strategy with traditional authorities and regional football stakeholders.

Expressing deep appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and his delegation, President Simeon-Okraku highlighted the Northern Region’s longstanding and growing influence in Ghana’s women’s football landscape. He noted that a significant number of female footballers hailing from the region are currently representing Ghana at various international levels, a testament to the area’s thriving talent development structures.

He praised the Northern Regional Football Association and traditional leaders for their consistent and systematic support for the women’s game, emphasizing that their commitment has played a vital role in nurturing talent and expanding opportunities for young girls across the region.

“The Northern Region continues to be a strong pillar in the development of women’s football in Ghana,” he stated, underscoring the importance of sustained grassroots investment and community backing.

Beyond celebrating regional achievements, the GFA President also appealed to the traditional authorities for their prayers and moral support for Ghana football, particularly as the nation gears up for a busy international schedule. Key among these engagements is the Ghana national football team, the Black Stars, as they intensify preparations toward World Cup qualification in North America later this year.

President Simeon-Okraku was accompanied by the Chairman of the Northern Regional Football Association, Alhaji Abu-Hassan Rhyzo; Chief of Staff, Michael Osekre; GFA Regional Football Coordinator, Daseebre Adu Asare; President of Dreams FC, Jiji Alifoe Mohammed; and Senior Communications Manager at the Office of the President, Patrick Akoto.
