Players from the Football Association’s Elite Academy programme played an important role as Prempeh College secured a bronze-medal finish at the 2026 Ashanti Region Inter-Schools and Colleges Competition.

Out of the 25-man Prempeh College squad, an impressive eleven players admitted through the GFA Elite Academy system featured prominently for the “Amanfoɔ” side, underlining the growing impact of the FA’s youth development initiative at the second-cycle level.

The Elite Academy players who represented Prempeh College included Asumadu Michael, Jonathan Boamah, John Kotoku, Thomas Asante, Annor Ngoah Raphael, Jamel Moomen, Stanley Benianah, Boateng Rabony, Antwi Peter, and twins Masaponya Kweku Jnr and Masaponya Kweku Snr.

Prempeh College began their campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over KSTS, before suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Opoku Ware School in the semi-finals at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Determined to end the competition on a high, the Amanfoɔ bounced back strongly in the third-place playoff. After a tense goalless draw against Our Lady of Grace SHS in regulation time, Prempeh College held their nerve to claim a 4-3 victory on penalties, sealing a well-deserved bronze medal.

The strong showing by GFA Elite Academy players once again highlights the programme’s effectiveness in nurturing young talent and contributing meaningfully to school football, while preparing players for higher levels of the game both on and off the pitch.
