The Football Association today, January 23, 2026, will officially launch the FIFA-backed U15 Girls Regional Colts Leagues in a landmark step toward strengthening grassroots women’s football across the country.
The inaugural ceremony will be held at the GFA Conference Room at 11am, marking the beginning of a nationwide initiative rolled out under FIFA’s Women’s Football Development Programme.
Designed to provide a structured and competitive platform for young female footballers, the U15 Girls Regional Colts Leagues will focus on early talent identification, long-term player development and increased participation at the grassroots level. The initiative aims to lay a strong foundation for the sustainable growth of the women’s game.
Beyond competition, the league will serve as a vehicle for instilling core values such as discipline, teamwork, and excellence while inspiring the next generation of female football stars.
Central to the project is the creation of a clear and accessible development pathway for players under the age of 15, ensuring a smoother progression from grassroots football to elite and national levels, and reinforcing the GFA’s commitment to the future of women’s football.
