Debutants, Oak Ladies face a tough test as they begin the second round away to Hasaacas Ladies. In-form Jonina Ladies will travel to play Soccer Intellectuals in a quest to reclaim the top of the table.

HALIFAX QUEENS VS CHAMPIONS POLICE LADIES

Halifax Queens will be hoping to bounce back from their last-game defeat when they face Police Ladies in this weekend’s Southern Zone Women’s Premier League fixture, as both sides look to regain momentum in the campaign. The hosts are under pressure to respond after their recent loss and will be keen to put in a spirited performance, especially against a Police Ladies side that has enjoyed the better of recent encounters between the two teams. Police Ladies come into the game off a draw in their previous match, a result that stalled their push but kept them firmly in contention. With experience and organisation on their side, the visitors will be confident of controlling proceedings and converting possession into goals.

ARMY LADIES VS EPIPHANY WARRIORS

The league leaders, Army Ladies, are set to defend their top spot as they welcome Epiphany Warriors this weekend. With 22 points from nine matches, the hosts have been the team to beat this season, combining a solid defence with a potent attack. Epiphany Warriors begin the second round of fixtures in mid-table, having accumulated 15 points so far. They will be looking to disrupt the leaders’ momentum and close the gap on the top sides with an upset away victory.

SOCCER INTELLECTUALS VS LEADERS JONINA LADIES

The second stanza of the Malta Guinness women’s premier league continues across all league centres. At Senya District Assembly AstroTurf, Soccer Intellectuals will slug it out with Jonina Ladies. Jonina led the league log from week one till the final game of the first round when they shared the spoils with Oaks FC on the road. The hosts, until their defeat to Army Ladies, have gathered momentum going into three games unbeaten. Jonina, having the title in sight, and Soccer battling to escape the drop, the weekend fixture promises to be cagey and uncompromising. Jonina handed Soccer their heaviest defeat in the first round, beating them 4-0 at Antie Aku AstroTurf, but Soccer Intellectuals would have to play above themselves to avenge that humiliating defeat.

LADYSTRIKERS VS SAMARTEX LADIES

Ladystrikers begin the second round of the Women’s Premier League with Samartex Ladies at the Jukwa Astro turf. The encounter is crucial to the home side after recording three drawn games in a row, the latest being their one-all draw at home against Police Ladies. The visitors, on the other hand, lost their last weekend’s game to their regional rivals, Hasaacas, in a highly contested clash. However, the Timbers have boosted their team with experienced gaffer Yusif Basigi, which will add additional value to the squad.

HASAACAS LADIES VS OAK LADIES

Hasaacas Ladies will host debutants, Oak Ladies, at the Kobby’s Astro Turf. The visitors go into this fixture after dropping points at home, whilst the hosts won their last game to end the first round on a high note. The first-leg encounter between the two sides ended with both teams sharing the points.
