Newcastle Red Bulls have signed back-row forward Sam Graham from Northampton Saints on a two-year contract for next season onwards.

Graham, 28, is in his fourth season with Northampton, helping them win the Prem title in 2024 after joining from Doncaster Knights in the Championship.

This season, the back-rower has featured in eight Prem and European games for Saints.

He follows team-mate Elliott Millar-Mills in making the move to Kingston Park as Newcastle continue to strengthen their squad.

“Newcastle have been getting sell-out crowds in the league on a consistent basis, and they’re really going places with the way they’re starting to build,” said Graham.

“As a player it’s massively exciting to be a part of that once my time at Northampton comes to an end, and I’m looking forward to throwing everything into it when I get up to Newcastle in the summer.”

As well as the Northampton duo, Exeter pair Josh Hodge and Rusi Tuima, New Zealand number eight Hoskins Sotutu and Argentina second-row Franco Molina are already signed up to join Newcastle next season.

The Red Bulls remain bottom of the Prem but have qualified for the knockout stages of the Challenge Cup with a 100% record.

Newcastle’s sporting general manager Neil McIlroy added: “It’s an exciting period for the club as we put in place the building blocks for what we are confident will be a very successful future, and Sam promises to be a big part of that.”
