The 2025 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U-17 Colts Championship produced another thrilling round of action on Monday, September 22, with Group A leaders Greater Accra tightening their grip on top spot and Ashanti Region igniting their Group B campaign at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

Group A

Greater Accra maintained their unbeaten run with a 1–0 victory over Upper West, thanks to Philip Amponsah’s  strike on the FIFA Pitch. The capital side now boast eight points from three games, positioning themselves strongly for a place in the knockout stage.

Defending champions Western Region delivered the day’s most emphatic result, sweeping aside Elite Academy (Bolga) 5–0 to climb to second place on seven points, overtaking Volta Region on goal difference.

The champions showcased their attacking depth with goals from Emmanuel Arthur, Ramzy Duah, Francis Essiam, Godfred Amos, and Bernard Yankey, completing a comprehensive victory that keeps them firmly in contention for a knockout-stage berth.

Earlier, Volta Region edged Northern Region 1–0, with Danso Kwaku Mensah netting the decisive goal. Despite the win, Volta slipped to third, level on seven points but behind Western on goal difference.

Greater Accra’s midfield duo Jonathan Mensah Okai and Justice Osei, along with left-back Isaac Dodzi Kwabena, have impressed throughout the group stage, while Upper West captain Shakur Ibrahim continues to shine. Standout performers elsewhere include Northern Region striker Salifu Kabiru and Volta attackers Danso Kwaku Mensah and Agbali John.

Group B

On the betPawa Pitch, Ashanti Region roared back into contention with a commanding 3–0 win over Brong Ahafo. Adjei Duah opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the third minute, Alidu Issah doubled the lead just after the restart, and a 64th-minute strike sealed a vital three points.

Central Region edged a lively contest against Upper East, winning 2–1 to move to six points from three matches. Sumaila Bukari gave Upper East an eighth-minute lead before Didard Fosu levelled in the 14th and Adoku Awuni Dennis struck the decisive goal five minutes later.

In the group’s final fixture, Eastern Region triumphed 4–3 on penalties against Elite Academy (Accra) after a 1–1 draw, further tightening the Group B table.

Now in its fifth year, the KGL U-17 Inter-Regional Championship continues to shine as Ghana’s premier platform for emerging football talent.

Featuring an expanded 12-team lineup comprising all ten Regional Football Associations alongside the GFA Elite Academies, the 2025 edition is once again showcasing the skill and intensity that have propelled many of its alumni to Ghana’s junior national teams and the domestic leagues.
