Quarterfinal pressure won't intimidate us - Black Queens' Josephine Bonsu

Josephine Bonsu emphasizes the importance of teamwork, positive mentality, and embracing pressure in the quarterfinals of the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. She highlights the team’s win against Tanzania as a result of their collective effort and good mentality. Josephine also focuses on utilizing the team’s attacking abilities to score goals against Algeria on Saturday.

Here is what she told the media on Friday:

On pressure playing in the quarterfinal

We all know its pressure. It’s the quarterfinals. It’s only one game, but we have to turn the pressure into motivation. Who doesn’t want to play the biggest tournament in Africa? And who doesn’t want to play the quarterfinals? The next stage is the semifinals. So we just enjoy every moment.

On making AFCON debut against Tanzania

I can just hope for myself that I’m going to have a chance to help the team, and this is what it’s all about. I am glad that I was able to help the team to win. It’s not about individual work bur teamwork.

On what gave Ghana win against Tanzania

In the game against Tanzania, we showed a different mentality than in the other games. Of course, there was pressure, but it was really good for us, and we played a good game, and we deserved it.

On Algeria goalkeeper

In Africa, we just try to score goals because we know of our abilities in the attack.
