Arsenal is planning their next season without the presence of Thomas Partey. The Central Midfielder is expected to leave Arsenal this summer as his contract talks are not advancing. However, replacing a player like Thomas Partey is not going to be easy for the Gunners. Mikel Arteta and club are currently planning to find a perfect player for the midfield role replacing Partey.

Despite having a good season last year, Partey could leave the club this summer. His current contract will end this year and club wants to give him a new contract with reduced wages. However, Partey wants a new contract atleast with the current wages. As a result, his contract talks have paused and he would be expected to leave this year.

Mikel Arteta on Thomas Partey: “He’s a key player for us, he’s massive player and we can see that week in week out”. “They way he came back post-holidays was probably the best condition that he’s been. Now it’s about managing him”……..“He’s a really important player and we have missed him for many months. He looks in great shape”. “It’s his presence, his quality, his physicality and his experience

Thomas Partey also talked about his contract situation, he said – “I know a lot of speculations have been going on, but for me, I’m really happy to be here… I like Arsenal.”

It’s clear that Although Thomas would like to be at Arsenal but his deal is complicated.

As the Gunners expect Thomas to leave the club, they now plan for new midfield signings. There are some clear targets for Arsenal’s Midfield in this transfer window. It includes players such as Martin Zubimendi, and some other defensive midfielders. Martin Zubimendi deal is almost done and he can be seen as an upgrade to Thomas Partey.

Talking about the contract situation, Mikel Arteta has said, “We have certain situations with contracts expiring … we are always actively evolving the squad and understanding what the players want to do when they finish their contracts.”

Journalists have reported that – “For several days, Arsenal FC have been one of the clubs with a concrete interest in Joshua Kimmich and have held talks.”….“They’re replacing Partey with Christian Nørgaard? It just seems a bit odd.”…“Frenkie de Jong … would be absolutely perfect for this Arsenal team … the ideal long‑term replacement for Thomas Partey.” ….“Brentford midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk … could be seen as a long‑term candidate to replace Partey at Arsenal.”

Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta has always been interested in midfield players. However, Players like Thomas Partey and Jorginho will not be part of the team next season. As a result, Arteta is clear about what players he wants as new signings. According to some sources, Arsenal are looking for two new Midfield players and a new striker as key targets.

€50 million deal for Zubimendi shows that the club wants to have top players at a fair price and they won’t overspend.

Another Player that the Manager likes is ‘Norgaard’ from Brentford. The young midfielder is rated highly by Arsenal and their Manager. Many reports tell us that a bid for him is going to be prepared and submitted soon.

Thomas Partey joined Arsenal in 2020 on a 5-year contract. Now he is expected to leave the club as a result of contract expiry. Although new contract talks took place, but the deal could not be completed. Partey does not want to accept a reduced salary, and his personal decision is respected by the club.

Thomas Partey might get a good offer from other clubs in Europe as he had a good record with the Gunners. He is a strong and smart defensive midfielder, and his talent is appreciated by many clubs in Europe.

This Decision might also help him as he will get a new challenge at a different club. Also, Arsenal can create space for new signings and fresh energy in their team. The decision has got mixed reaction from the fans, but they understand the situation and thank him for his service to the club.

It would be interesting to see where Thomas Partey goes next…Who will Arsenal sign as their new Midfield Target? The situation will become clear in the next few weeks. Share your thoughts in the comments below.
