Liverpool are backtracking on their €80m transfer promise to Luis Diaz, according to SPORT. The Colombian forward enjoyed a great campaign with the Reds, registering 17 goals and eight assists from 50 games.
His efforts have pleased Barcelona, who have been hot on his heels for a while. Recent reports have stated that the Catalans have already reached out to the Merseyside club to discuss a move this summer.
The LaLiga champions desire a new versatile left forward, and Diaz fits the bill. However, Liverpool have turned down Barcelona’s advances, insisting that the 28-year-old is not for sale.
Interestingly, Diaz has now informed the Catalans that he has a verbal agreement with the club. The Reds have apparently promised the player that he will be allowed to leave if one of his suitors offer €80m for his signature.
The player is under contract at Anfield until 2027 and has his heart set on a move to Camp Nou. However, Barcelona are not too keen to pay over the odds for a player who will turn 29 in January.
Interestingly, Liverpool are reluctant to offer any discounts and will only let the player leave for the aforementioned fee. The situation has caused standstill, but the Catalans are ready to play the waiting game. With the player keen to move to Camp Nou, Barcelona are convinced that it will only be a matter of time before the move materializes.
Liverpool are among the clubs eyeing a move for Jorrel Hato this summer, according to Caught Offside (via Empire of the Kop). The Reds are looking to bolster their back line this year and previously had their sights on Dean Huijsen.
However, the Spaniard completed a move to Real Madrid last month, prompting the Merseyside club to turn to Hato. The Dutch defender has been quite impressive for Ajax of late and has appeared over 100 times for the club to date.
Chelsea are apparently leading the race for his signature this summer and have already reached out to the Eredivisie side to discuss a deal. However, Liverpool aren’t willing to give up just yet and are also gathering information about the 19-year-old.
Ajax would prefer to keep hold of Hato, but are likely to let him go for €50m this summer. The player’s ability to play at left-back and central defense makes him an enticing option for his suitors.

Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. Despite believing in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to create an iconic rivalry, Deepungsu reckons no one can match the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo. He spends his leisure time writing about life on his blog, reading books, and playing the guitar.
