Liverpool attacker Federico Chiesa is open to the idea of staying at the club this summer. There has been a lot of speculation about his future throughout his maiden season at Anfield. But Chiesa, in an interview with the Echo, accepted that he was ready to stay put at Anfield.
Chiesa played just 14 matches for Liverpool across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign, and found the back of the net twice. While he missed quite a few matches at the beginning due to an injury, he was later sidelined by coach Arne Slot, who chose other players over the Italian in the starting lineup.
Throughout the season, Chiesa had been linked with a return to Serie A. Primarily a winger, Chiesa had to compete alongside Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo for a spot in the starting lineup.
The Reds had one of their best seasons in 2024-25, winning the Premier League, but missed out on glory in the UEFA Champions League and domestic cup competitions. Chiesa will aim to cement his berth in the Reds’ squad in the upcoming season, with the hope of winning a recall to the Italy side ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Before arriving in England, Chiesa scored 32 goals and provided 23 assists for Juventus in 131 matches across competitions. For his former club Fiorentina, Chiesa had found the back of the net on 34 occasions and assisted 26 goals in 153 games. He has represented Italy on 52 occasions so far, scoring seven goals and also winning the 2020 European Championship under Roberto Mancini.
