Amid the recent development of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, talks of restarting the Indian Premier League 2025 are picking up steam, with IPL chairman Arun Dhumal keeping all options open.

“Ceasefire has just been announced. We now explore the possibility of resuming and concluding the . If it is possible to conduct it immediately… We need to work out the venue dates and everything, and we would now be speaking to all the stakeholders, including team owners, broadcasters, and everyone involved and find a way as to how to move forward. Most importantly, we will have to consult with the government,”

Earlier on Friday, the 18th season of the IPL was abruptly suspended due to the ongoing tension between India and its bordering country, Pakistan, as confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The remainder of the tournament was postponed for one week with immediate effect. On Thursday, the IPL 2025 match between  and  at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala was called off due to security reasons.

With 58 matches played and 12 more to go in IPL 2025, BCCI will ideally be looking at a 2-week window. If IPL does not resume in one week, then the BCCI would have to wait to search for a window in a packed international calendar in the coming months.

Team India will travel to England for a 5 match Test series, with the first Test starting from June 20. The Pataudi Trophy will be played till August 4 and then India are scheduled to tour Bangladesh from August 17. The Asia Cup has tentatively been allotted for the month of September. From October to late December, India will travel to Australia, before playing a multi-format series with South Africa at home.
