The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 remains suspended for a week following the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. As per the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), further decisions regarding the tournament’s schedule and venues will be taken only after a thorough assessment of the situation in consultation with the relevant authorities and stakeholders.

However, according to a report in The Indian Express, the abandoned 58th match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) is expected to be replayed once the tournament resumes.

The PBKS vs DC clash, which was played on May 8 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala, was suspended midway due to a sudden power outage that affected one of the stadium’s floodlights. At the time of the interruption, PBKS had raced to 122/1 in 10.1 overs, powered by a scintillating 122-run opening stand between Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya.

PBKS currently sit in third place while DC are in fifth in the IPL 2025 points table

With 12 league-stage matches and the knockout rounds still remaining, attention has turned to when and where the IPL can resume. The BCCI is reportedly exploring overseas options, as staging the remainder of the tournament in India could prove challenging if the situation does not improve.

Recent reports suggest that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is already in “active talks” with the BCCI about potentially hosting the remaining matches in the UK. For now, fans and franchises alike await an official update from the BCCI regarding the revised schedule and venues.
