Chennai Super Kings (CSK) top-order batter Urvil Patel shared a glimpse of team members heading back home following the suspension of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The youngster posted a selfie from his flight alongside Indian veteran Ravindra Jadeja, confirming their return home.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced today that IPL 2025 has been suspended for a week due to escalating cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. As a result, efforts are being made to send both Indian and overseas players back to their respective home countries.
The BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla stated that the remainder of the IPL schedule will be announced after having a discussion with all the respective stakeholders. The suspension was put into effect on Friday, May 9 and that disrupted the momentum of several franchises who were on their way to seal a spot in the playoffs.

Recently, the match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was called off midway through the first innings due to a blackout in the region. Initially, it was mentioned as a technical failure of the floodlights, but later it was due to the safety concerns for the players and the spectators amidst the Indo-Pak war-like situation.
Meanwhile, CSK have already been eliminated from this yearās tournament and currently sit at the bottom of the points table. In their last match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the five-time champions secured a last-over victory. The debutant Urvil Patel smashed a fiery 31 off just 11 balls and impressed everyone. The Proteas Dewald Brevis also scored a solid half-century which helped CSK claim their third win of the season.
The revised fixtures and venues are expected to be announced in the coming days.
